RSHE Curriculum

St Joseph’s uses the ‘Life To The Full +’ RSHE programme throughout school, from EYFS to Year 6. Life to the Full is a Relationships and Health Education curriculum programme underpinned by a Christian faith understanding that our deepest identity is as a child of God – created, chosen and loved by God – and is an RSE programme, integrated with additional resources to fully cover all additional PSHE / Health and Well-Being criteria.

The Life to the Full + programme is based on the structure of ‘A Model Catholic RSE Curriculum’ by the Catholic Education Service. This model curriculum was highlighted as a work of good practice by the Department of Education so we therefore have confidence that the programme will be fit for purpose in supporting the growth and development of your child.

Life to the Full is much more than a series of lessons. It is an entire platform of creative resources that will engage, inform and inspire our children and, indeed, you as parents. This includes interactive video content, story-based activities, employing a wide range of teaching tools, original worship music and an accompanying programme of classroom prayers.

In addition there is an online parent platform so that you, as parent and carers, can view the teaching materials, engage with the teaching and deepen the experience for your child. To access the online parent platform please visit: www.tentenresources.co.uk/parent-portal

Our approach to RSHE is rooted in the Catholic Church’s teaching of the human person and presented in a positive framework of Christian ideals. It will be delivered in conjunction with teaching the Religious Education programme. All RSHE will be in accordance with the Church’s moral teaching. It will emphasise the central importance of marriage and the family whilst acknowledging that all pupils have a fundamental right to have their life respected whatever household they come from.

The school will use Ten Ten “Life to the Full +” to deliver the RSHE curriculum content within the context of a Christian understanding of human sexuality rooted in the wisdom and teaching of the Catholic Church. Life to the Full has been approved by the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle. Therefore, we are confident that this programme is a very good fit for our school.
