Mental Health Awareness Week

May 12, 2022 By spidrwebadmin

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place this year from 9th May to 15th May

The theme for 2022 is LONELINESS and how the experience of feeling lonely has an effect on our mental health and how we can play a part in reducing loneliness in our communities.

Reducing loneliness is a major step towards creating a mentally healthy society, so the theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is aimed at raising awareness of the impact of loneliness on our mental wellbeing and the practical steps we can take to address it.

As a school we will be looking at resources to help children highlight the theme of loneliness and open up wider discussions about wellbeing. We will explore this theme in a number of ways – getting children thinking about their friendships, relationships and support systems, about how best to support others, and self-care strategies to employ if they ever feel lonely.

What is the Mental Health Awareness Week Colour?

The international Mental Health Awareness Week colour is green. This means that on Friday 13th May, you can wear a green ribbon, green socks, hair bobble or accessories etc. to support this event. By wearing the colour green, you’re showing others that you care about mental health awareness. You can also take part in green-themed craft activities in school or at home.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs S Arthur

Mental Health Lead
