St Joseph’s uses the Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust Geography Transition Unit from Years 1-6. These carefully planned units ensure that our pupils are ready to access the KS3 Geography curriculum once they enter secondary school. Our Geography curriculum aims to inspire students with curiosity and fascination about the world around them. Our curriculum aims to equip students with knowledge and give them an understanding about natural and human environments, diverse places, people and resources,
including the Earth’s key physical and human processes. The study of geography should give students an understanding of their place in their World.
Although our Geography curriculum is planned from Year 1, it begins in EYFS with People and places and the world we live in, where pupils begin to develop their geographical knowledge by
exploring features of their school and nursery. They begin to compare and contrast different places and environments using maps and atlases.
